Well it really depends on the person and what he believes in.
I do not think smoking is mainly forbidden but there are many things Allah did mention in his dear book Qur'an about not throwing ourselves into sins which are going to affect our health and/or somebody's else health. As we all know Smoking does cause a lot of effects and diseases.
But all of us Muslims MUST follow what our God [ Allah ] says.
If a Muslim did something haram [ forbidden ], one of these things might happen:
- They don't feel bad about doing it and continue to do it plus enjoy doing it.
- They feel bad about doing it & wants to stop but the desire of their soul keeps pushing them to do it all over again.
- They feel bad about doing it, to the limit that they think they have lost all of their connections with God.
All what I've mentioned above, are the wrong things to do.
The most important thing, of-course is to do what God [ Allah ] wants us to do.
What does Allah wants us to do? Does he want us to run away out of fear and shame? Or does he want us to approach him?
It's very, very clear that Allah WANTS us to approach him after sinning.
The idea that suddenly comes and says that what we've done is so bad that we can not approach Allah is simply a trick of Satan to keep us away from our God Allah.
Allah says in the Qur'an:
" Allah wants to turn to you in repentance, but the wish of those who follow their lusts is that you should turn away from Him- far, far away. Allah wants to lighten your difficulties: For man was created Weak . 4:27-28 "
That verse makes it very clear that when you do a sin, Allah WANTS you to turn to him in repentance.
Those who reject Allah, like Satan, and follow their own lusts - they want you to NOT turn to Allah in repentance, but to turn away from Allah.
Allah knows that we are weak, and we fall in sins.
However, one of the 99 names of Allah is Al Hale-em, which means "The Most Tolerant". Allah is tolerant of all of our sins, and gives us more than one chance [ chance after chance ] to turn back.
In the Qur'an, Allah says that if He were to take everyone to task for their sins, then there would not be a single human left on earth. What matters the most is the state you are in when you die. So Allah gives everyone time to repent.
As for whether there are some sins which Allah doesn't forgive, as Allah says in the Qur'an:
" Those who invoke not, with Allah, any other god, nor slay such life as Allah has made sacred except for just cause, nor commit fornication; - and any that does this not only meets punishment, but the Penalty on the Day of Judgment will be doubled to him, and he will dwell therein in ignominy, unless he repents, believes, and works righteous deeds, for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, and Allah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful 25:68-70 "
In these verses above, Allah is saying that there are three sins which deserves a double punishment:
- Taking partners with God.
- Murder.
- Fornication.
But even these sins are forgiven with repentance and doing good doings/actions/behaviors, such as praying.
Allah does NOT say that whoever does these three things can never come back to him. Allah will always accept sinners prayers if they do really mean it and regret the sin they've done.
Okay, Aiiii-men xd
